Deception, fight or flight - Page 2 Empty landing on the western shore

Post  Algared Tue Mar 16, 2010 8:41 am

As the band unload their equipment, Algared says, "I'd rather sink at least pit a hole in the boat before we set it adrift. If we can bring the sail we may be able to use it for added shelter."

Barak has a hatchet to hand and wants to punch a hole in the bottom and let it drift in the current: "There is a chance that people may think it an accident and that we've drowned. If not, with luck it will sink mid channel and be a nasty suprise for that warboat when it comes back. As for the sail, I can't say I want to carry it."

"What say you Kugald just send it adrift of give it a slow leak that hopefully send it to the bottom in the path of the warboat?

As for the sail I'd be happy not to haul it, but I also see it could be worth the effort. So what do the rest of you think. Is it worth the effort to share the load?"

How heavy is the sail? It won't be a modern light-weight 'canvas' sail. Will it be the traditional (for the Norse) leather reinforced wool sail? If so it will weight a ton (figuratively).

I agree with putting a hole in the boat and have posted it to the main thread. While the sail would be nice, I think it will weight too much. We are all pretty heavily burdened.

The sail is the leather reinforced woollen sail - so yes its weight is considerable and far to cumbersome for one person to carry and given where you are now travelling (the forest) it is to difficult to move with more than one person carrying it.
