The warband is awoken just before the second watch. Outside there is barely a gust of wind and a fog lingers about the thran. The hearth fire has died down during the night, however, the morning is warm and the lack of the hearth fire means little.

Your warband awaken and go about your morning routines. Your morning fast is broken with a serving of last nights pottage, with another quarter wheel of cheese and rye bread.

As they eat Bjarni will comment that "I don't think we will eat this well when the thran is abandoned. Unless Myna has a lot of spare food."

"I agree with you there my friend. Do we even know how they will react to our presence?"

"No one likes an unwelcome guest, so I am supposing that Cunate has told his cousin that he is coming. It certainly looks like he is not planning on leaving any food behind. Which is why I might have a second helping."

"It is one thing to have an unwelcome guest... But a whole army? I hope Cunate has plans to move on to new lands before we lose another ally."

"Aye, I agree with you there. I am off again soon, I have a man to see in Dalasjo. Barak - can you give me directions?"

"What takes you to Dalasjo?"

Barak will give Bjarni directions as best as he can. As far as I can see it is to take the road south to Namjen and then continue on the main road south west to Dalasjo. An easy journey.

"A brideprice"

"Ah. Do you need assistance in securing this? I'd be glad to help if I can."

"I have to find out how much it is first. I am to see Suri's father. I am from a land-holding clan in Orbaal, so that should count for something. Thank you for the offer."

"I was thinking more of helping you avoid the brideprice or at least not getting lost on the way. But be off with you: I have a hard day ahead of me napping under that tree" Barak waves in the general direction of the nearest bit of cover / shade "... and perhaps catching a couple of hares if I get too bored." He smiles "However, if you need a loan, I will help if I can."

"Remember to invite me to the wedding; whether it be in the temple or the bilges of a nivik."

"If the bride price is too high it may come to a woman stealing yet," Bjarni laughs. He then follows the directions Barak gave him and heads off.

"I hope my congratulations is not early in its saying. I am here for you should you need armed support."

Have I misinterpretted this? Or were we awoken somewhat earlier than 4am? I'm hoping you just missed a word and meant to say we were awoken just before the second watch ENDS... which would put our awakening at closer to 8am.

It's kind of an important distinction, because my first impression upon reading this first line was that we were being sent on an important, urgent, secret task! LOL

Bryndis will go about her normal morning tasks. Weather permitting, she'll spend time sparring/working out in her new byrnie with her new sword. Weather not permitting a workout, she'll seek out Thaldirs and see if there's anything she can assist with.

Coming towards the end of spring the days are now getting longer and you were awoken not long after sunrise....

The hour grows late and as darkness begins to descend upon the thran there is no sign of Bjarni. Even after you have eaten the evening meal the warrior has not returned and as you prepare to turn in for the night, there is still no sign of Bjarni's return. Nor is there any word about his having returned from his venture.

"Barak, was there a time upon which Bjarni was supposed to return? I guess it's not out of the question that he was asked to stay over at his future bride's fathers home for the night."

"Yes, that is what I was thinking. His new family were so excited to add the whale to their kin and threw a huge huge feast. Come nightfall he was too large to roll out of the door, so he had to stay the night. If he is not back by the time we finish our mid day meal, ten I will go look for him."
