Time: Beginning 1st watch - Mid 2nd watch

Each of the warband awake where they crashed. Algared awakes amid the familiar surroundings of his clanhouse, his family starting their day around him. His father is nowhere to be seen while his mother and other members of his family go about starting the day. Fresh timber is placed upon the hearth fire while the morning meal is prepared. Lifting his head from his pillow he feels a little worse for wear after last nights festivities. With a look over her shoulder his mother greets him with a "Ah! Good to see the Grey Slayer has gifted you with breath again this day. You sounded as though you were in the drink last night!"

Eijryk and Borygg both awake with the rest of clan Orbaason as they too go about starting a new day. As guests of the house you are brought a bowl of water to wash with after you have packed up your sleeping gear. You are each greeted with a warm welcome from those of the Orbaason clan. The fire has new timber placed to rekindle the flames and the smell of boiling oats wafts through the hall. Perhaps after a wash and some oats your heads will feel some what better than they do when you first wake up.

Barak is awoken by the gentle hand of Gelda shaking his leg, her smile makes his head feel a little better than it should. The hearth fire is still naught but glowing embers as yet no new timber has been placed upon the fire and there is little in the way of food to be seen or smelt in the meadhall. "Jabor needs some fire wood cut when you are ready" Gelda says matter of factly after she has made sure you are awake.

Sigrun and Bjarni are awoken to a room filled with the smells of a cooked meal a table set with bowls and a pot of boiled oats. Looking around you you can see several people making their way around the room, you assume that they are members of the Nildrom clan. "Well met, guests" is your greeting from an average looking women in her late twenties/early thirties. You are given a bowl of water freshly drawn from the well which is placed upon a nearby table for you to use. Sigrun feeling a little under the weather has nothing to complain of when compared to Bjarni his head throbs, his mouth feels as though every Ibanvaaler in Menglana has walked through his mouth with their boots on and his vision seems blurry to match.

Kugald is roughly woken by Wilhelmina his sister, she seems to be taking pleasure in Kugalds discomfort after last nights revelries. Raising his head he dismisses his sister quickly. Jurri and Zeoul after taking up Kugald on his offer are awoken during the early morning by Kugald's mother. "Good morning to you both" she says with a smile "good to see you again Jurri" she adds. Before turning to walk away she adds "I will have water brought in for you soon" then leaves you both to pack up your sleeping gear.

It is not long before Kugald joins Jurri and Zeoul in the clanhouse's main room.

His head throbbing, Kugald snaps, "Enough Wilhelmina," as he wakes up. He dresses slowly, nursing a bit of a hangover. Eventually, he joins the others. Looking a bit blurry eyed, he yawns. "Good morning Jurri. Zeoul." "By the Grey Slayer's beard, my head is pounding like an anvil."

Eijryk wakes up and rises to sitting slowly. His head aching, he cups his hands in the bowl of water and then splashes his face with the cool liquid. He looks up at Borygg. "How was your evening?", he asks his companion with a hoarse voice "I think I should've let go of that last ale".

He looses his long hair from the hairband and wets it with water from the bowl. Then he combs it carefully before tying it in a ponytail again.
After cleaning his face once again he rises and starts packing his things.

He greets the Orbaason family heartily and thanks them for their hospitality with hugs. He also thanks Bjarri warmly for his ale-companionship last night.

Bjarni will dunk his head in whatever water is available. Some ale to wash his mouth and a hearty breakfast. Assuming he doesn't throw up of course.

"You just want to see my chopper." Barak replies to Gelda with a equally straight face. He then gets up quickly, pulling on a tunic, and then starts reducing the lumber to usefully sized chunks before going in for breakfast.

Time: Morning

The warband spend the morning surrounded by new found friends or family as they enjoy breaking their morning fast. Nolomar shines through the eastern windows of the clanhouses and from inside there does not appear to be many clouds obscuring the brilliant blue of the days sky. The conversation is light and entertaining as the warriors chat around the table.

Sigrun and Bjarni are introduced to Uluaf's family and staff as they share the morning meal. Algared spends the morning with his family chatting and catching up with events around the thran. Borygg and Eirjyk are also introduced to the Bjarri small family. Meanwhile Barak was outside enjoying the early morning out the back of the meadhall splitting timber for the hearth fire.

It is still early in the day when your morning meal is finished and the tables are cleared and your hosts or family are now going about the clanhouse doing their daily chores. Barak has chopped enough wood to satisfy Jabor and plenty for the hearth fire for the coming day. He then eats his morning meal by himself as the other staff having already completed their meal and have started their days work.

What are your plans for the day?

Having not done any weaponcrafting for the last few months, Kugald decides to swing by the forge of his old master, Jorri, and see if he could use another pair of hands to make some weapons. After all this wandering around in the woods, he could use a real work out.

Eijryk and Bjarri have most likely already talked about the situation in Ygesdram after the soldiers and refugees from Storzarlund has arrived, in their discussions last night. Eijryk then would have asked if there are many wounded and sick in the thran? Are there any infirmatory or similar, and who is responsible for the treatment? Any master physicians?

Post by GM Eirjyk leaves the Orbaason clanhouse with Borygg after finishing the morning meal and helping clean up the mess. Borygg informs Eirjyk that he intends to spend some time repairing and maintaining his gear, it long overdue and it will probably keep him occupied for most of the day. With a slap on the shoulder Borygg leaves Eirjyk to his own devices as he heads outside the thranhold and out into the thran.

After the morning meal, Eijryk asks Borygg if he has any special plans for the day and if he perhaps need any help. If so, then Eijryk will gladly help him. If he doesn't need any help, Eijryk will go out and walk around the thran on his own, checking it out in general since it is the first time he sees it in full daylight. He will look for where any wounded and sick are kept and may offer his help there, bringing his own physician's equipment.

Post by GM Catching hold of the first person he can inside the thranhold Eirjyk asks if there is a physician or a healer. Eirjyk is told that Hervold Jela is a healer as the informant points over his right shoulder indicating the healers clanhouse.

Approaching the clanhouse Eirjyk meets the healer. They chat for some time, as Hervold informs him that there are a few wounded from the fighting but those are all being tended by their clansmen. They call upon Hervold if there is anything they need and if things are really poor, Hervold visits the clanhouse to offer any treatments.

Hervold says to Eirjyk "Are you familiar with making potions, salves and the like, because the journeyman I had was lost to me during the fighting, would you be interested in the work?"

Barak wants to catch Gelda on her own, without Jabor... but he knows that is unlikely at the moment.

Barak's first plan for the day is to find Kuguld, he'll try their house, then the market place (he is fed up that he missed the market yesterday) and then wonder round the thran if necessary.

Post by GM After Barak has finished chopping the wood for the meadhall hearth fire and then eating your morning meal, Barak heads out of the meadhall and off in search of Kugald. By the time you arrive at Kugalds clanhouse he is no longer home but you are told that he will more than likely be at the workshop. Heading towards the workhop you hear the ringing of a metal hammer against an anvil. You find Kugald in the workshop swinging a hammer for all his worth.

After speaking to Kugald (*), if he has any spare time he will spend it properly maintaining and repairing his equipment, and then practicing with his bow. If anyone takes an interest, and wants some help, then he'll be happy to coach them. The Daas need as many bowmen as possible and if Barak is to fight on land, then he fancies being a captain of a company of archers...

Sigrun will check in on the Farvie, then spend her day mostly near the docks/shore, trying to get information about conditions from the other sailors/pilots/fishermen.

Post by GM Sigrun thanks Ulauf for his hospitality and leaves his clanhouse and heads towards the dock. There is little room along the dock as several warships and two knarrs are tied up alongside. The 'farvie' is still sitting on the beach where it was left, the rope and stake are still secure. Sigrun spends about a quarter watch going over the boat making a few minor repairs and maintenance.

Then heading down to the docks, Sigrun wanders about docks chatting with the sailors and pilots from other vessels

Jurri will spend his day pursuing his normal responsibilities of entertaining the Daas and his court. If not required for that purpose, he will find a quiet place and work on his edda, knowing that soon enough, the opportunities will be scarce.

Post by GM Jurri leaves Kugald's clanhouse and heads towards the greathall. The thranhold seems to be going about it's normal day to day life. Servants take water from the well, several of Jabor's staff arrive at the thranhold leading an ox and small wagon, the contents of which are several kegs of ale and mead (probably to replace those stocks consumed last night), the smells of cooking waft through the thranhold coming from various clanhouses and the Valhakar's kitchen.

Several geese wander the thranhold dodging and honking the busy human traffic, several chickens scratch their way around the thranhold in a search for food. A young girl named Helga carries a small wooden box bearing the eggs from the hens roost. She kicks her way through several pigs as she heads towards the kitchen.

There is little work for the skald at this time of day and Jurri sits near the great hall watching the events of the thranhold. He pens some new work and adds to his great edda while being entertained himself by the inhabitants of the thranhold.

Bjarni will ask if there are any chores that need doing and earn his keep by way of thanks. He will also check his weapons and clean any rust off the metal parts, give the wood an oil etc etc. Other than that he is a stranger in a strange land. He will continue to ask around for anyone who knew his grandfather. Oh, and he will stay away from any noisy activities such as Kugald's hammering until his headache goes away.

Post by GM Ulauf takes the bear of a man up on his offer to work and has Bjarni hauling timber and the like around his shipyard. Bjarni gets to watch the happenings around the now busy shipyard. The workers do not seemed all that skilled at their trade from what Bjarni can see, the shipwrights crawl over a warboat at the moment, they are replacing several planks of timber from below the waterline. Most of the starboard side is open with the ribs of the vessel exposed.

Ulauf barely makes his presence felt in the yard during the morning, he shows up issues a few orders, checks that the work is being done and leaves again.

The apprentices and journeyman seem to work hard enough and under the directions of a man you discover is named Thorfald Batheson. He is the senior journeyman in the shipyard and directs his crew to the best of his ability as limited as it is.

Borygg will spend time maintaining his gear, mending his clothing, and practicing with his bow.

Post by GM Borygg leaves Eijryk earlier in the morning. Borygg heads down to the mercantylers to pick up a few supplies to help him repair and maintain his gear.

Borygg returns bearing a wax block, some whale oil, some leather cord and some bone buttons.

Spending the rest of the morning waxing and oiling weapons and gear, replacing cords and the like on his pack while repairing and maintaining other items. During this time you discover that there are other little items you need and so wander back down to the mercantyler every now and then to purchase the items you need before returning back to the Orbaason clanhouse to continue your work.

The day is warm and fine with only a few white clouds in the eastern sky to obscure the blue above. A light wind blows in from the north east to keep things cool.

With most of the morning spent this way, Borygg finally looks over his gear a with a smile feels satified with his efforts. A new patch on his shirt is done, leather leggings have there stitching replace, shoes repaired, your pack has new buttons and leather cords, your weapons are oiled and there scabbards oiled.

Then grabbing your bow you head out of the thran and out into the woods, where you spend about a quarter watch practicing with bow and arrow. Looking skyward you notice that Nolomar is high in the sky and that you should probably be returning to the thran.

"Aye, morning and thanks for the warm place to sleep.", Zeuol tells the woman as he rises out of bed. He stores what limited items he took out the night before and waits for the water. The Savoryan Sage freshens himself up and dries off.

Afterwards Zeuol heads to the clanhouses man room to join the Daas family to inform Kugald, "Since we don't have any immediate plans for action, I'll visit my own clan. They may've some news to share, being host to the Daas. If not, perhaps some work to keep my mind active. Again thanks for the hospitality."

Post by GM Leaving Kugald's clanhouse you make your way towards the great hall. Along the way you find a familiar face from Froyaheim, Bjerl Valstric he is from minor clan in Froyaheim but he was always seen around the thranhold. While chatting with Bjerl you see Jaans Beguun leave the Daas' clanhouse he sees you chatting and heads over to you.

With a slap on the shoulder and warm handshake Jaans greets you.

Borygg returns to the thran and stows his bow and arrows at the clanhouse. He'll see if there are any chores that need doing for the household. If none, he'll look around a bit for his companions and see what they are up to.

Post by GM By the third watch you Borygg has completed repairing and maintaing his clothing and gear and spent a half a watch practicing with bow out in the woods. Then after storing his bow and quiver at the Orbaason clanhouse he approaches Tyyra Orbaason she informs you that Bjarri has not been seen for over a watch and she asks you to go and cut some wood for the hearth fire.

With that Borygg makes his way out the back of the clanhouse and taking up the axe he spends nearly a half watch cutting and splitting timber

"It's been a while since I made potions and salves myself but I know the basics and I will pick it up again quickly I'm sure." Eijryk tells Hervold. "I guess I will stay here in Ygesdram until my uncle arrives with troops from Vulenheim so I can just as well do some good in preparation for the war. Just tell me where to start and I'll be at it." he continues with a friendly smile at the healer.

Post by GM "Well then" Hervold says "perhaps you would be better suited to gather the herbs and such, I have an apprentice who is probably ready to start learning the preparation of the herbs, so perhaps you would rather gather then?"

Having spent the morning catching up with his family, Algared excuses himself and and goes off to acquire two journals. One to enable him to keep a more accurate copy of the Farvie's Stores and the second to assist him as he plans for creating a new spell or give opotunity to write a treatise or two. If successful he will will first go down to the Farvie and begin checking the stores. He will mark and number each barrel as he checks the state and quality of the supplies.

Post by GM After spending some time with your family chatting and sharing the morning meal, you are given a journal some 8" x 6" and with a quick flick would seem to have about 100 parchment pages it weighs some 4lbs. The journal is given to you by your mother after telling her that you would be seeking one on the new day.

You spend the quite some time in search of the second such book, your father informs you that he does not have such an item and after questioning several of the other clans you are unable to find this second book. It is not until your find yourself back at the bonding house taking a moment to decide on your next course of action when you spy such a book as you seek lying flat upon a shelf. A flick through it pages finds it empty of any writings and judging by the dust upon its cover it has not been used for quite some time.

Taking the journal under your arm you make your way down to the dock, there you see Sigrun in conversation with other sailors. One of the sailors is seen to be pointing upstream to Froyaheim. Then making your way to the 'farvie' you climb aboard and spend quite some time taking stock of the stores aboard the vessel

"Well I don't know the area around here much yet as I just arrived yesterday evening. So if you don't mind, Master Hervold, I would prefer to stay here and work with the preparations first. Then, when needed, I may go out to gather more together with your apprentice. He may then show me the surroundings as well." Eijryk answers the healer.

Post by GM Hervold nods his head in agreement "Very well" he says "a trail then, work here with me till the end of the month if you are skilled enough to my liking then we can look at continuing the arrangement. What say you?" Eirjyk is shown into Master Hervold's workshop and after a quick tour around Eirjyk is shown where all the equipment is stored and to where the stores of herbs and such are kept. Eirjyk is shown the various herbs that are kept within the clanhouse there is quite a range of herbs kept within the clanhouse.

Once algared has finished recording and detailing and recording the stores onthe supplies and stores of the 'farvie' he finds a quite area to meditate before recasting 'Chalsea's sponge'.

With Nolomar high in the sky, what few clouds there are do little to hide the crisp blue sky above.

The day is warm with a slight gusty wind from the north west.

It has become apparent to the returning warband that there does not seem to be the number of people in Ygesdram that there should be given the number of clansmen from clan Storzar that arrived in the warboats. You are told that a number of Storzar families are being billeted with neighbouring clans in the surrounding thrans. Meanwhile there are a number of warriors from the local clans as well as those from clan Storzar garrisoning the thrans to the east against any Ibanvaal march.

Nolomar has now begun its descent into the western sky. Borygg after spending some time with his bow out amongst the trees has returned to the thranhold and spends the rest of his afternoon cutting firewood as well as performing several other chores around the Orbaason clanhouse.

Kugald continues to spend the afternoon working in the workshop. There he continues to work hot metal into varios items as requested by his master Jorri. Kugald moves from blades to horse shoes and then finishes the day turning out nails.

Barak has gathered his bow and heads off into the woods to practice with bow and arrow.

What are the rest upto?

Bjarni is helping out the shipwrights repair a damaged warboat. When work is done for the day he will make his way back to where he is staying and take it from there. Do any of my new companions have sisters?

Post by GM Bjarri spends the day working in the shipyard, he carries out menial tasks all day fetching tools and equipment for the jourenyman and the apprentices. The day however, is warm with few clouds to obscure the blue sky above, there is a wind slight breeze blowing from the north west which takes the bite out of the sun when it blows.

During the day you catch sight of Sigrun on several occassion as she spends her day down at the docks it appears she does nothing but chat with the boat crews all day.

Your assistance at the shipyard is appreciated by all, but you feel your talents are going to waste and at times you become a little frustrated as you waste your day fetching awls, chisels, hammers and the like.

With the sun now setting behind the western sky the senior journeyman calls an end to the day. Downing tools you all head to the Nildrom clanhouse, entering the building you all take a place at the table in the main room. The lady of the house soon brings a jug of ale to the table, each man is left to pour his own drink and soon chat turn to the events of the day. Your small group is soon joined by Ulauf he has spent little time at the shipyard during the day but he joins the group at the table to discuss the plans for tomorrow.

With darkness approaching the workers leave the clanhouse and return to their own homes.

Kugald and Algared are the only member of the warband that have sister in Ygesdram - Wilhelmina Daas/Kugald and Algared's younger sister

Algared returns home and Gives his weapons a thourhough clean and polish, taking any equipment that is in need of repair to the appropriate tradesman if it is beyound his skill. Once his equipment is cleaned and and repaired as needed he will find a seculded spot where he can begin thinking about a new spell and how he would need to bend the etheral to achieve the desired results.

Post by GM After carrying out his stocktake aboard the boat he casts his spell and after several attempts finally succeeds in his efforts. It has been nearly a quarter watch since finishing his count of the stores aboard the boat that Algared feels the strength to continue his day.

Returning to his clanhouse Algared begins to sort through his gear. He finds that there are several items of clothing that need repairing and most of his equipment will need some maintenance. Finding the necessary items from around his home he spends the next half a watch tending his gear, some seams are restitched, leather and metal are oiled, and several smaller items are repaired.

With Algared having spent some time repairing and maintaining his gear he turns his attentions from work with his hands to work for the mind and so leaves the thran, Algared heads out to his familiar yet secluded spot only known to him so that he spend some time in meditation and thought

Sigrun will talk with whomever she can, seeking further word of Froyby's current state.

Post by GM Sigrun spends the better part of the morning and afternoon down by the docks moving from boat to boat chatting with their crews. The sounds of creaking rope as the boats move with the small waves along the shoreline, the calls of seagulls as they circle overhead or float upon the river.

During the afternoon your attention is caught by a group of warriors assembling in the meadow near the market place, they are all armed with at least spear and shield, as you watch them they go about drilling for about a quarter watch or so, they do little to distract you from your conversations with the local sailors though.

The gulls quickly gather as a fishing boat returns. The crew unloads their catch for the day and begin to prepare the fish, throwing fish heads and guts into the nearby river, where they are devoured by the ever present sea birds.

The sun hangs low in the western sky by the time Sigrun has chatted with most of the boat crews. The fisherman have finished preparing their catch and have departed the docks heading back to their clanhouses. One fisherman gathers several of the labourers who are moving from one vessel to another to assist him in taking a portion of the days catch up to the thranhold.

In the meantime several other fishing boats have also returned and completed the not so glamourous task of gutting and beheading their catch. Sigrun chat with them about their day on the water and the conditions out there while they work. Before long with the sun now gone behind the wooded hills to the west Sigrun finds herself alone for the first time today...

"Agreed", says Eijryk and shakes Hervold's hand.

When shown the herb stores in Hervold's workshop Eijryk looks closer at the containers to try to recognize the different dried flowers, leaves, roots and other types of herbs held there. As he is more familiar with the herbs of Harn there might be some that he is a little uncertain about but he won't ask about any yet.
"So I guess I'll start right away then?" he looks at Master Hervold with a questioning face. Unless the healer tells him otherwise, Eijryk starts working on a quite simple healing salve for which he recognizes all the ingredients are available.

Post by GM Eirjyk spends the rest of the day seated inside Hervold's workshop, in conversation with Hervold, young Eijryk informs Hervold that he is not so familiar with the names of the herbs that are local to the area. So Hervold spends the day showing Eijrky different herbs and teaching him the names for each herb.

Eirjyk is surprised to find that the names of herbs of quite similiar, perhaps being taught by an Ivinian the names of the herbs have not been changed to much. Eirjyk finds that before long his is familiar with the names of the herbs in Hervolds store and Hervold is soon happy enough to leave Eirjyk alone in the workshop to continue his work.

Eirjyk spends the rest of the day making himself familiar with layout of Hervolds workshop and the herbs that are stored there.

Barak enjoys his day practicing his bow in the woods. When the sun starts to get low in the sky he goes back to the Dass hall to meet Kugald.

Post by GM Barak makes his way to the greathall within the thranhold. He makes his way through the gatehouse where he is greeted by two huscarls of the Daas household, returning their waves he continues towards the hall. There he finds Zeoul inside finishing up some work the Storzar has given him. Zeoul informs Barak that Kugald is not within the hall and so both head off to Kugald's clanhouse only to find that they have already missed him. Kugald's mother informs them that Kugald has already finished at the workshop, returned home, washed up and has headed down to the meadhall.

Thanking her for her assistance Barak and Zeoul make there way down the hill to the meadhall. On entering they find the hall abuzz with activity. Not only are there many locals in attendance but there are quite a few strangers already present, there are even a few faces they recognise from there travels but none they can put a name to.

The hall is well lit with lanterns burning from the ceiling. The hearth fire burns low providing a gentle warmth within the hall on this already comfortable evening. The smell of food also wafts through the hall to mix with the wood smoke of the hearth fire and the whale oil from the lanterns

With a quick scan of the hall he finds Kugald sitting with Algared and Eirjyk an ale already in front of them.
